I just found this error on your page when I viewed the source, it could be that your hosting company doesn't allow the function
is_dir()
and that is why you are getting this error message.

So your currently not including the mootools.v1.11.js, e2photo.js and e2photo2.js files correctly. Without those referenced correctly the gallery will not work. The path you have on them is: e2_photo_gallery_full/js/mootools.v1.11.js, e2_photo_gallery_full/js/e2photo.js and e2_photo_gallery_full/js/e2photo2.js

OK, thanks! I've gone back over the instructions on how to make only one stylesheet available, but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I think I handled the instructions choosing a stylesheet (at the top) correctly, however, things seem to go wrong when I swop the text after the tag '<div id="thumbtoggler">'

I am supposed to delete everything BETWEEN '<div id="thumbtoggler">' and the very next '</div>' tag, right, and replace it with the text listed. I've done that but things aren't working. Only the thumbnails are showing. For some reason it isn't downloading the main images in the gallery.

Thanks!

In the config.php file the path to your image is relative to the index.php file. When using the uploader, the folder location is realtive to your uploader folder location. If you are using the default setup then in the config file your folder location would be:

$gallerypath="images";
$thumbpath="imagethumbs";

and in the uploader section you'd put

../images/ and ../imagethumbs/

If you want to put links to the side or around the gallery, you just need to keep intact the html you see there within the body. If you mess with <div> tags or eliminate any you could break the gallery.

Ah, I've figured it out, almost. I had the images path listed incorrectly in the config.php file. However, now I still have to manually move the images to the correct folders (images folder and imagethumbs folder). The uploader is putting the files in the uploader folder instead of the images and imagethumbs folder.

Another question, though...how do I customize the gallery page (add a menu with links to other pages, for example).

Thanks so much!

What code should I be looking at? I'm not sure if you mean it should have that link somewhere in the text or that another line of text should look like that. I'm not sure where to look.

Did I type in the name incorrectly? How should the directories for the 'images' and image thumbnails' be typed?

I think I know what it might be, in your image files you have a guy's name Gary O'Hare. The
'
is messing with the javascript. It telling the array to close that particular element in the array, I think that might be what is throwing off the gallery.

Thanks for replying.

The error is when you're looking at the gallery.

It works perfectly when there are 6 images to be viewed but if I upload more images, say expand the gallery to 8 images, it doesn't display properly and I get the error messages.

Also, I don't use the uploader that is supplied. I use a secure ftp server and the uploader can't access it. As a result I upload the images manually.

I hope this helps and thanks again.

The function(s) that read the image IPTC/Metadata rely on the GD library. I am not sure, but you could see if your host can put the GD library on your hosting plan, but I am not sure if the Windows server running php supports it.

Hi,
I'm experiencing a very frustrating error. If I upload more than 6 images the gallery ceases to work properly. I get a couple of 'tempgallery undefined' errors and an 'object doesn't support this property or method' error.

The gallery in question can be seen here: http://www.medwaymariners.org.uk/galleries/2007/index.php

I'll hold my hands up and admit that I have altered the index.php file BUT I didn't change any of the gallerys original code. All I did was fit some code around it and altered the css file to suit.

Can anyone shed any light on this? it's driving me nuts!

If more info is needed please let me know, I'll be happy to provide it.

Thanks in advance for anyone who replies.

That error is usually a simply mistype of the folder destination. Typically it's
../images/
and
../imagethumbs/
by default, if you did something like
images/
and
imagethumbs/
then it would give you this error.

As for the errors described above I have noticed that the people who have found this error are typically on a Windows server running PHP and not a Linux or Unix server. I wonder if it has something to do with running the "GD Image Library". That is how the script is reading in the IPTC/Meta Data of the images. I am not overly experienced on the server side of things so I am sorry I don't have the technical know how to fully help you with a Windows server.

Thank you for your continued help, it's really apreciated. I've had a trawl through but can't see any hidden files. HOwever, when I tried to upload new files to the server, I was met with "Error: Destination directory can't be created. Can't carry on a process" I assume this is something to do with permissions (weeps in dismay becasue server is Windows not Unix)

Thank you.

Could be some hidden files in there. Maybe a .ds or thumbs.db file. If you're using an ftp program, sometimes it has an option to show hidden files. It could be the hidden files that are causing the errors. If you get rid of those, hopefully the errors will disappear.

Thanks for that,

Okay, I've deleted everything in my folders, but instead of showing me a blank page I get four different error messages now. Has anyone got any idea what these are?

It looks like there is a problem with the getfolders.php file reading your images or something else in the folder is in there that isn't an image.

Make sure there aren't any files inside the images folders that shouldn't be there. Looking at your the array being created, it's finding 6 images but it might be seeing something else in there and it's having issue with it.

So do you use the wordpresss media upload? Or how do you separate the media file for the e2 gallery to look at a specific folder? Do you create a WP admin page for the gallery?

hi there, i would just like to report that i have successfully ported e2 into wordpress, albeit with less features (i did not include iptc support because only a simple interface is needed by the client). you can view the site here: www.makieduardo.net.

i'd say integrating e2 into wordpress is easy enough. it took awhile for me because i don't really know javascript. also, the resulting code was a bit hackish and messy, i'm sure someone more competent could have done a better job cleaning it.

Server side includes are not required. Basically PHP is needed to run the script.
