Sounds like somehow your including the gallery file twice. The file you're including, does it have all the <html> <body> tags? because you're probably duplicating those tags. It's also important to have all of the includes that the e2 gallery requires included.

I have now got my photo gallery working. However for some reason I when trying to embed the photo gallery into my website it displays the photo gallery fine but underneath this it displays an exact mirror image of the photo gallery.

I am using an include statement within php to add the contents of the gallery inside a <DIV> tag. As this is the last line of my code I can't see where I can be calling it again.

I also entered another <DIV> tag underneath the <DIV> which has the gallery in it. within this <DIV> the word hello exists. This displays directly underneath the photo gallery however the mirror image then displays directly underneath the work hello.

I have tested this in both IE and FireFox so it is not browser specfic.

Has anyone ever experienced this before? Any advice, suggestions greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Thank you for the response.

I have done as you advised, read the post and followed the advice in that post, I have also lifted the js files again from a previous forum post - "I think I've Fixed It".

In doing this it has fixed a few things the image size displays correctly and the toggle arrows ppears for the thumbnail scroller. However the image still does not load after first load. I can clicked other images and some of them display others just display the same as the first image - a constant loading image. Am I doing something really wrong here as every other post I have looked at with a link to a galllery it works fine after several revisits.

Thank you in advance for any help given

Hello all

I am new to this forum so unsure what I need to provide in order to get a quick repsonse or to help you guys give me advice. So please let me know if UI haven't provided enough information and I will gladly give you the information required.

I am currently developing a website with the E2 photo gallery as a feature of it. Everything is working perfect except when I revisit the site it just displays the loading image for the first image, I can select the other images and then reselect the first image fine. Also it loses the functionality to scroll across to more photo's within the thumbnails after the first visit to the site so I can never get to see more than 5 photo's as there is no hyperlink/image click.

I looked through this forum and noticed this was an issue within a previous post and the issue was within the IE7 browser which is what I am using. I have foillowed the instructions within the post - downloading the e2photo.js and e2photo2.js files and replacing mine with the downloaded ones. However this did not work. Can anyone give me any advice regarding this issue?

Thank you in advance for any advice given

That makes the button to go away aven when we are getting out of bounds.

It still sometimes goes out of bounds though, when you boubleclick thumb buttons too fast, also getting a bit choppy scrolling animation when you clicking fast many times in a row, dont know if anything could be done with that, maybe somehow handling doubleclicks ?

Nothing would be needed to change on the class file, but probably on the uploader file that passes in info to the class on upload. I haven't checked into how to keep the transparancy in png, but if you read through the documentation you should be able to find it.

I'm having the same problem with PNGs in that the alpha transparency information is changed when I use the uploader. The latest source file for class.upload.php was from Nov 2007. Is that newer than the one you are using? I updated the file but now nothing appears. Is there some code that needs to be altered withing the class file?

I think I know what it might be, in your image files you have a guy's name Gary O'Hare. The
'
is messing with the javascript. It telling the array to close that particular element in the array, I think that might be what is throwing off the gallery.

Thanks for replying.

The error is when you're looking at the gallery.

It works perfectly when there are 6 images to be viewed but if I upload more images, say expand the gallery to 8 images, it doesn't display properly and I get the error messages.

Also, I don't use the uploader that is supplied. I use a secure ftp server and the uploader can't access it. As a result I upload the images manually.

I hope this helps and thanks again.

Hi,
I'm experiencing a very frustrating error. If I upload more than 6 images the gallery ceases to work properly. I get a couple of 'tempgallery undefined' errors and an 'object doesn't support this property or method' error.

The gallery in question can be seen here: http://www.medwaymariners.org.uk/galleries/2007/index.php

I'll hold my hands up and admit that I have altered the index.php file BUT I didn't change any of the gallerys original code. All I did was fit some code around it and altered the css file to suit.

Can anyone shed any light on this? it's driving me nuts!

If more info is needed please let me know, I'll be happy to provide it.

Thanks in advance for anyone who replies.

He says:

"I've corrected the script. I've changed every IPTC APP13 reference for APP0. Also i've corrected every array referencing. Now it works fine"

Is this as simple as doing a 'replace' in notepad whereby I replace the string "APP13" with "APP0"? Also, when he says "i've corrected every array referencing" do you know which array he is referring to and how he corrected it?

__________________________________________________________________

Update:

I did a replace on the getfolders.php file to replace APP13 with APP0 and now the code generates these errors:

It looks like a) you havn't defined your constants and b) the language is very strict about declaring all constants/variables. Is there a way to declare these constants so these errors don't occur?

Also, is it possible for me to mimic your current server setup so that I can get this working?

It kind of looks like your server doesn't like to read the IPTC data of the images. Check out what this guy did to fix the problem.

He's talking about modifying the getfolders.php file part of the script

OK, I tried your changes and I seem to have got a new type of error.

Warning: getimagesize(images/thumbs) [function.getimagesize]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\htdocs\galleries\gallerytemplate\getfolders.php on line 105

Is this because the gallery does not have permission to view the files I uploaded? If so, how do I chmod the files to 777 if I have them installed on an apache server running on windows xp?

Thank you VERY much again :)

First you can't have the thumbs folder in the images folder.

The
$gallerypath
needs to be relative to the index.php file and same for the
$thumbpath
.

I'd recommend going with the default setting for the gallery it makes it a lot less complicated. When you use the uploader with the default set up for the images and imagethumbs folder you'd use a relative path to upload the photos to your images and imagesthumb folders. Example:
../images/
and
../imagethumbs/

Hi,

I recently downloaded e2's gallery and installed it on my server. I want to leave the folder structure exactly as it is from when it is installed.

I have the uploader working successfully, but the gallery will not display the images I have uploaded

When I edit the config.php file, do I put the images folder as 'uploader/images'? (given that the folder name I provided to the uploader is to store this images in is "images") This is the folder where the images are stored after they are uploaded. I have put this path in the config.php file already in the root folder, but the gallery will not display my images.

Below are the links to my gallery, uploader, then a transcript of my config.php file.

<?php
//Define the folder where your photos will be placed on you server.
//Relative to the path you place the galery index.php
$gallerypath="uploader/images"; //EX. images or ../gallery/images no trailing slash needed
$thumbpath="uploader/images/thumbs";	//EX. images or ../gallery/images no trailing slash needed
$transitionspeed="500"; //How fast you want the animations to render
$fadespeed="300"; //How fast you want the photos to fade in and out
$passw[0]="password"; //Password to access image uploader
?>

Thankyou for all your help, and please treat my webserver with respect :)

I have a E2 installation which does not want to style correctly. I removed all the stylesheets but one and set it as default and I removed the controls for switching styles, but the image scroller just streams across the page.

With the style controls in place I can get it to behave by clicking on one of the styles and once that happens the cookie seems to keep it working, but clear the cookies and we are back to a broken system. It seems worse in FF than in IE.

Could someone take a look and let me know what I am missing.
