Hi again,

I had an intermittent problem with the IPTC info on my images. I could make the info appear on my Mac using Photoshop File Info, but when my friend tried to input the info on Win XP using PS the info didn't appear. We tried various techniques, but to no avail. I finally got it to work by loading the image on e2Photo uploader, then downloading the image with my FTP client, inputting the info on PS, then reloading the image + IPTC info with the FTP client. Worked every time. Just an observation. Thanx again for a great gallery :)

Thank's for a quick reply.
I just wrote this post to notify you an error(a small error) that happens in the gallery. I wrote it just for you to have in mind that this problem don't should appear in the new version, 'cause it's possible that the same problem can appear in the new version

Another thing, i have already added my email a few days ago, to receive a notification about the release of the new version. Hope that this version would be the final version for all the sideshow that I've found in the web. If you want i can give you a hand, testing, or improving some modules in the new gallery, just for made thinks easier faster for all the people who will develop and use this great photo gallery.

Just as an FYI, I've been working on the next version of the gallery, (E)2 Gallery Pro, which I've re-written from the ground up. It has the ability to play a slideshow and many more features. Since I've moved on to reprogramming the (E)2 Gallery Pro and you're trying heavy modification to the original I don't have the time to debug the old version. It's hard for me to go back and try and figure out the old code since my brain is wrapped around the new code. Sorry I can't be of much help on your modification.

If you'd like to be notified when I come out with the new version you can visit the gallery homepage and there is a form you can fill out and I will email you when it's released.

Hello great work what you have done with the gallery. In a few days you can see the modifications or improvements(autoplay, an show diefferent info) I have done to your library.

The error is:
If you load the first time the gallery you see everything fine. Then you click on the info button, and the iptc box appear.
Then the next step is click on the next button. Once the next image is loaded and you click on the info button to see the info, nothing appear.

The error is that you have to click everytime to times on the info button to see the info box.

I have debugged it a little bit, and the problem is that in the loadinfo() function the fadeout parameter value change magically. All the time you load the next photo the fadeout value is 0, even if you change it when you load the next image.

btw, I tried removing everything like you said, and every time I remove it, I am able to upload the image fine, and I can see that the image is in the proper directory, also the thumb is created fine and all the info is there, however the large image just doesn't load...the "loading" message just keeps spinning. I made sure that the image was within 600x600 too.

Any ideas?

Hi. I really like your gallery, and am trying to get it to work for me. I'm making a gallery for someone else who isn't very computer savvy, and it's really important that the IPTC info not get lost when using the upload. So...

I saw in the post above that you said to find:

$handle->image_resize     = true;
$handle->image_ratio          = true;
$handle->image_y                = 600;
$handle->image_x                = 600;
$handle->jpeg_quality         = 95;

Then you said to "remove" it. Do you actually mean to remove all the various $handle statments ? Or would it also be possible to just change the "true" to "false" in the image_resize ?

Yes, if you have the uploader simply upload the files and not resize the large images. To do this, simple open up the index.php file inside the uploader and find the following line:

$handle->image_resize     = true;
$handle->image_ratio          = true;
$handle->image_y                = 600;
$handle->image_x                = 600;
$handle->jpeg_quality         = 95;

If you remove this, it will simply upload the files as is. But you will need to batch process your images pre-hand to no more than 600x600 for the images to work in the gallery (unless you modify the gallery to accept larger images). The uploader will upload the images, and create the thumbails, but not rewrite the images so the IPTC data should stay intact.

hello e2.

is there a way that the uploader doesn't remove the IPTC Infos?
your way looks to me a bit non common.

anyway, how do you add the IPTC Infos to the images?
do you download the images via FTP, add the IPTC Data and re-upload the images?

thanks. leo

I've installed the gallery on my local xampp development environment. when I do some pic "uploads", the thumbnails were created and the pics are in the gallery. so everything looks fine.

but when I've click on the Info Button, no IPTC Infos are shown.
I've checked the images before the upload in photoshop, so all infos are in the file.
Then I've checked the image after the upload in potoshop and all IPTC Infos are empty?

so where's the error?

need some help and would be great to get some infos.
by tthe way, it's an awesome gallery script.

How about adding an XML caption file option? I guess I could add this to the photo's IPTC info, but I'd like to be able to add links and other HTML to captions as well. Perhaps a configuration option to either display IPTC info or XML captions?
